Full descriptionExterior view of timber-framed vicarage (which later became a private house known as The Old Priory) seen across the lawn, surrounded by trees and shrubbery. The church is seen behind the house (original 12th century church much altered and rebuilt in 18th and 19th centuries). Lettering on engraving reads "N.E. view of the church & vicarage house at Steyning of which the latter is a part of an old nunnery. The nave of the church is Norman, the rest of different Gothic parts. June 5th 1781".
